It’s Sierra McCray Photography’s FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!! I can and can’t believe it’s already been a year. Sometimes I feel like I’ve been doing this forever, and other times I think, “Man, a whole year already?”
They say the first year of business is the hardest, and I can tell you that I agree with that because learning the ropes with taxes and finding your style and place in this industry is tricky! It’s hard finding your photography style, your approach to marketing, realizing who your ideal clients are and HOW to market specifically to them… That’s all some TOUGH stuff, but I LOVE IT! This past year has been the best, most rewarding year of my life and I don’t regret a single moment of it!
Zach has easily become a huge part of this business, because my life drastically changed when I met him. In fact, he’s a huge part of my brand and my story in this business journey! Even within the first few weeks of us dating, he completely changed my outlook on life and made me realize that love stories can be sweet and romantic like they are in the movies. Since then, I’ve appreciated our couples and their stories more than I ever think I could if we hadn’t met when we did. When I photograph a wedding day, it means SO much more to me know because I put ourselves in their shoes… I CANNOT wait for the day when I marry Zach Trumbo, and because of that, I fall a little more in love with the fact that these wonderful couples chose me to photograph their wedding day and their love story.
In this first year, I’ve felt like a failure but I’ve also felt like a champion. Looking back, I have grown SO MUCH. My editing and shooting style has completely changed. I have invested in great equipment and so many great educational sources, but most importantly, I’ve gained so many new friends.
So, there’s been days when I’ve cried sad, depressing tears because I felt like a failure or because I thought another photographer was doing better than me, but there have also been the “Oh my gosh, I get to do my dream job” tears that I’ve cried out of complete shock that this is actually my life now. I’ve dreamed of the day that “Sierra McCray Photography” would be a real thing, and here we are celebrating it’s first birthday! I am so happy to call this my little baby business!
Lastly, I would like to thank each and every one of you sitting here reading this blog. Thank you for your comments, your likes, and your sweet, sweet, support. YOU have kept me going when I went through those days when I thought like I was failing, and YOU have invested in me and reminded me that I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do with my life, and because of YOU and all of your support, I’m here, celebrating my business’s first year of business at age 19. I am extremely thankful for you.
NOW for a little throwback!!! THANK GOODNESS FOR IMPROVEMENT AND SHOOTING IN RAW!!!!!!!!
My shooting + editing style has drastically changed, and I’m thankful for it! So rewarding to see positive change and GROWTH!
